Safeguarding coordinator: Mrs Joan Cape (01968 674276 or firstname.lastname@example.org) Please contact me if you have any questions about safeguarding, or if you would like to arrange for training for members of your congregation. NB If we do not have a suitable training session on the calendar, it may be possible for your volunteers to attend a training in another Presbytery. Emergency safeguarding matters/referrals should be addressed directly to the Safeguarding Office at 121 George Street.
Volunteer training Volunteer training is not an option - it is mandatory, and should be renewed every 3-4 years. All volunteers working with children or vulnerable adults should have up to date PVG clearance before taking up their position; two references should also have been seen.
Kirk session training Kirk session training is strongly recommended, and should be renewed every 3-4 years. The recommendation is that the number of elders who normally attend session meeting should undergo training. This training is essential if elders are to properly fulfill their role as trustees of their congregation.
Training events Recent training events in Tranent and Gullane (both for volunteers) and in Dalkeith (for elders) were very well attended. We will shortly be announcing dates for next session's training sessions. Please contact me if you would like to host a training session, or if you have people who need training.
